Look, I came her to do my bachelors because I knew the universities here were better.
As far as your accusations about the Professor being anti-Indian NRI -- just do a google search on his research. He has done more for our community and motherland than almost anyone. His research has become the most commonly quoted in immigration and he has been helping build the image of India. The only thing he isn't doing is pretending that everything in India is perfect. He is not a stupid nationalist who lives in America yet makes up garbage about everything in India being so wonderful.
I have read many of his articles on Businessweek -- they have been very helpful to all of us.
If you understand this from his words then i can judge your IQ level.
Ok now coming back to your statement. I just didnt say IIT but also REC's. REC stands for Regional Engineering Colleges (there are plenty in India) and that is not a payment seat. Education level is well maintained and by entrance examination standard, its far above GRE level. Argue me on this. But this doesn't mean I will say any bulllshit & non-fact thing about my motherland.

The people(few Non Resident Indians, 2% i must say) like we have seen talk so much negative about their own country, but whenever they are in trouble in foreign countries, they look for immediate help from Indian Government. It is made as a big issue in India that NRI's in trouble, prime minister should come forward and help.

So, pappu should not complain of not reaching the goal when he keeps increasing the goal.

We needed little more money keep our options open as we are determined to get this information from USCIS. This is why we needed more money and I raised the goal. If it can be done by 5K, rest of the money will go to IV lobbying efforts. There is nothing wrong in that.

Core team wants to hide everything they are doing assuming that anti are reading the forum and they will know what we are doing. On other side members feel uncomfortable as nothing comes out as solid / strong plan of action. There were couple of instances were I personally felt that core talks too much among themselves and release almost zero information to members, it may be good for community overall but not good for an organization where everyone is participating directly or indirectly. By recent posts by Pappu, I think they are improving.
We need to give them a chance as anyways their act is selfless. They may be lagging in personal management but they are not bad by heart or doing anything for personal benefit.

Last week I went to Trenton for DL renewal with H1 extension receipt (original), letter from employer, but in vain. They need approved docs. Luckily this week I got the H1 extended and today I carried the original approved H1 I-797A and got the DL extended. I got only 2 years H1/DL extension after 6 year completion with I-140 approved and 485 in progress. Fyi

Can the members in Texas and others call on Sen. Cornyn's office and ask him to support the bill. I just called their office, and the staff says that he has no statement from the senator, and therefore has no position as of yet. I asked him about the above report, and all he offered was "no comments"
Hope IV members step up their efforts in calling the list of Senators and post their feedback on this forum. We can learn from each others feedback and bring more pressure on these legislators.

I am a PT on an H1B visa working for the last 3 years. I have a pending I-140 (PD March 07). My husband and I shall be filing our I-485's soon. My visa screen is valid till Nov 2009. At the rate things are moving dont think my PD will be current for a while. Does that mean I have to renew my visa screen in 2009? Not sure if it had to be present at time of filing I-485 or at time of receiving a visa number.

That is a wonderful proposal and should be given due weight. Despite the early arrival, an individual may not filed his/her GC due to several reasons. Most commonly found / heard are
1. Company closures/ Layoffs / Transfer to different state
2. Employer / attorney delay and / or fraud in filing GC
3. Delays in processing Labor in certain states / backlog centers
This proposal seems a ray of hope for people in the above category. God bless Rajeev74 and all. Let this be heard and got attention at the policy level.

One of my friends received labor approval from Philly. His priority is October 2003, EB3, Non-RIR. Of course, my PD is from November 2001 and one other guy's is from August 2002. They were not processed, but my friend got a break from the drab BEC. Strange things happen in life. :)
