Hi,
I have an F1 visa that expires on July 11'th 2009.
I am currently on OPT and working. My OPT lasts for another 10 months.
I have just got my H1B application approved in the latest round and am allowed to get it stamped only after October. Therefore between July 11'th (end of F1 visa) and October (stamping of H1), I will be in the US without a valid visa but with a valid OPT.
I need to go to India in June and return on July 10'th- 1 day before F1 visa expires. Am I allowed to re-enter the US with 1 day of visa validity? What documents do I need to carry with me? How should I show them that my H1B is approved and will be stamped in October?
Will they let me back into the country knowing that starting 1 day later I will be without a valid visa until I travel outside the country in October to get my H1B stamped?
Thanks,
ssi

2. Select the control,in properties panel click on event icon then choose event that you want and double click in it ,then you can write the code for that EVENT in Visual Studio.
Hope it will help.

No, you only pay the visa application fees. India has a visa agreement with US so issuance fee is no longer required. You should check the US consulate website for more details.

Joining team U.S.A. may be getting harder. The government last week said it will revise the citizenship test to focus less on memory and more on understanding. "Rather than asking how many branches of government there are, we would ask why we have three branches of government," says Emilio Gonzalez, director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
What do we call the first 10 amendments to the Constitution?
I failed the test by one question. Damn! I almost got the minimum wage correct(off 10 cents).

It would be risky.F-1 visa requires strong ties to homeland. Since your parents are already here, it would be difficult for you to prove that you will indeed go back to India on completion of your studies.

A reader linked to this in the comments and it's worth bumping up to its own post. The New York Times' Nina Bernstein reports on a couple - a white US citizen woman and her Cameroon national husband - who have been battling to prevent the husband from being deported. Bernstein reported earlier in the week on the effective racial profiling USCIS is using to target mixed race couples in marriage-based green card cases - well worth reading if you have not already read the piece. Caroline Jamieson wrote to President Obama pleading with the President to help with her...

Dear all:
May I ask what I should do in the following situation?
I hold F1 visa and my new job starts on Sept 1. The int'l student office of my current university mistakenly set my OPT start date on May 6. My OPT has been approved and EAD card arrived.
That is, I will have 120-plus "unemployment" days accumulated by early August, which will then violate the "90-day unemployment rule" of OPT.
I am under tremendous pressure and really want to hear your opinions.
Many thanks in advance!

If We Can Work Together, Why Cant Congress? (http://rollcall.com/issues/53_13/guest/19547-1.html) By Bill Novelli, John Castellani and Andy Stern Roll Call, July 26 2007
Bill Novelli is CEO of AARP, John Castellani is president of the Business Roundtable and Andy Stern is president of the Service Employees International Union.
Partisan gridlock is crippling our nations ability to live up to its promise. To create truly effective solutions to Americas most pressing domestic problems, our leaders have to be willing to step across the aisle and work together toward a common goal.
Nowhere is this need more pressing than in the very foundation of the American dream health care and long-term financial security.
The time for rhetoric is over. Its time for leadership and action. That is why AARP, the Business Roundtable and the Service Employees International Union, organizations that often hold different views, are coming together with Divided We Fail a national effort to help fix this problem and ensure that all Americans have access to the affordable, quality health care they deserve.
The United States is reaching a tipping point. With millions of Americans concerned about their health and long-term financial security, they fear the future will not be as prosperous for their children and grandchildren. If that happens, it will be the first time in American history. That is unacceptable.
Sharply increasing health care costs continue to burden workers and businesses alike while sapping our nations competitive strength. In fact, more than half of the CEOs of Americas largest employers cite rising health care costs as the most significant pressure facing their companies. At the same time, workers are facing double jeopardy: a broken health care system and a deep uncertainty about how to pay for it. And as the presidential campaigns, primaries and elections continue to dominate the news, we can expect a great deal of finger-pointing for this quagmire.
As leaders of three prominent business, labor and consumer organizations, we took our shared message to Capitol Hill this week and challenged our elected leaders to put aside partisan differences and join us by pledging to create meaningful solutions to the health care challenges that burden our nation. We believe that only by working together corporations, government, individuals and families can we address Americas health care crisis. If our three organizations can put aside our ideological differences to create real solutions, then Congress can, too.
Our challenge stands for all who are willing to rise to it. As we enter the presidential election season, we call on our nations leaders to offer real solutions to the critical issues facing our nation. We need leaders who are willing to take a serious look at these issues, those who understand that the complexities are too important to be glossed over by platitudes and sound bites and who are ready to get the job done if elected.
The time for action is now. The problems are complex, and the answers will require hard choices. We must start by coming together. From there, we can work to craft fair and bipartisan solutions. Our organizations, and the Americans we represent, are leading the charge for positive change. We truly hope that Congress will follow our lead. Divided we fail, but together we can do anything.

I count myself as one of the lucky ones as I already have a GC for the last two years and enjoy working in the US. However, my company has offered me a position in Europe for three years and I was wondering how this would affect my green card status. Can I put it on "hold"? If so, is it easy. Any feedback would be appreciated.
thanks,
Tom

"I'm having to deal with the reality of what is. You can't wish it away. What is, is." So says a glum Ohio Democrat, Governor Ted Strickland, according to reporter Laura Meckler in this weekend's edition of The Wall St. Journal ("Democrats Face Economic Facts: Updraft Unlikely"). Meckler's article reports on the prospect that Democrats "will lose their majority in the House," citing two nonpartisan election handicappers, the Rothenberg Political Report and the Cook Political Report. What would shared power portend for immigration reform if the GOP took control of one or both houses of Congress? Before that question can...

Don't know if it will help anybody since i'm a June filer. I didn't file EAD along with AOS in June, but on July 11th i filed EAD with 485 RN. My check got cashed on the 13th and got the receipt# from the back. The case status says they received the application on 12th. I haven't got the Receipt notice yet though. I did write I-765 on the package.
