After initially filing I-485, I got FP appointment for photo, signature and 10 fingerprints.
Will I get another FP appointment notice ? When is it likely ?
How many times do you get fingerprinted for one I-485 application ?

thanks for the reply. i was anxious because i saw approvals in a month or less during Dec, Jan and Feb. Also I heard there is government shutdown now. is that true.:eek:

My I 485 is pending since filing in July 2007 (Receipt Date SEPT2007) Priority date in FEB2006 (EB2). I was wondering if I can change employer. I do work for client but sponsor/employer is keep on exploiting my situation, with same employer for almost 10 years now. I am really fade up. My Friend is having business and if client for whom I have been working with through my employer, ready to get new contract with Friend, then Can I change employer ? In fact relative owns business in Laundry. Is it possible , if client ready to sign contract with relative?In that case my end job is same but since through an employer who would be having different business, do not know whether it is a good idea or not ? If yes, what are limitation and demerits, time involved. Please advise.

Since ur I-485 is approved which means you will get Green card in abt week to 10 days they have denied EAD. So there is nothing to be concerned.

HI All,
I currently work for a desi consulting company and applied for H1B Extension.I applied H1B Extension with Current Client Letter and also a copy of PO.But my contract may end in a month or so.I am near to finalising a new contract oppurtunity which if seleted needed to join immediately.Now if i change the job does it effect my pending H1B extension.
I am not changing my consulting company who holds visa i am only changing client.As i already submitted client letter and PO i am kind of nervous if i get RFE regarding the current client, which i may not be able to answer it.Waiting for your valuable feedback.

I came to US on a L1 Visa, changed jobs got a H1 visa but never left the country for the last 3 years so dont have a H1 stamping in my passport.
I will be getting my 7th year extension (probably 3 yrs based on my approved I-140) soon and i have to visit India atleast this year. With no hopes of 485 filing and absolutely no hopes for CIR i need to plan to get a Visa stamping in my passport.
With the Interview dates at US Embassy in Chennai already gone till December First week, do you know whether i can get my H1 stamping done in any of the Canadian Embassies?
Has anybody whose case is similar to mine got their stamping done in Canada? Advice me on any risks.

Encouraging. Darryl Issa, the powerful new GOP House Oversight Committee Chair, has introduced this bill in the past, but with the change in party control, he's got a lot more clout this time around. Issa is proposing replacing the green card lottery's annual green card allotment with a new green card category for US-educated graduates in the science, technology, math and engineering fields. Frankly, the lottery is a program that is always under attack and I'd rather see the program's numbers go to increasing either the family or employment categories. Im currently in my 8th year H1 extension. I will file for my 9th year extension ( 1yr extension) and get it stamped in December. Then I will be outside the country for a year and will come back in next december'07. At that time can i file an extension and get a 3 year extension since i have been out of the country for a year ? If my labor gets approved and 140 gets approved then i know i will be able to do it but if the labor is still stuck....

I was in H1B visa(expires on Feb 2011). I got laid off from Employer_A from March 2009 and I transfered my I-797 to Employer_B in march 2009 itself through premium processing. It got approved and I have original approval notice also which expires on March 2012.
Now Employer_A likes to re-hire me back. I am also interested to go back. Do I need to transfer again from Employer_B to Employer_A?
Can I work for Employer_A with old I-797(expires on Feb 2011) ? I don't think Employer_A canceled or revoked my I-797 after they laid off.

As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

Most of the shots given are booster shots. Two MMR shots?
Varicella needs to be taken twice at 1 month intervals, however most doctors sign and seal the package when you take the first varicella shot and then ask you to come back one month later and take the 2nd shot, if not, you can insist the doctor to do so.
Needed shots are MMR, TD and Varicella, all others are Age unappropriate for us(atleast the applicants and spouses).

As long as you have a valid advance parole, an approved I-140 and a bona fide offer of employment in the same or similar occupation you are not likely to be at risk if you go to India. However, before making a decision to travel, you should consult with an immigration attorney fully familiar with your immigration and employment history.
